“Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vine,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Saviour.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.”
Habakkuk 3:17-19
Those were the words of the prophet Habakkuk when he complained to God about the trouble the Israelites were facing and God's plan to resolve the problems. It's easy to praise God when things are going well, but I find it difficult to rejoice and be glad when things don't go so well. And that is what I'm feeling God is teaching me throughout this month...
